Durham-Duplex enjoyed exhibiting at ICE-Europe, the International Converting Exhibition, in Munich Trade Fair Centre 15-17 March 2022.  This event was last held in 2019 and after an enforced Covid break was back as the world’s leading exhibition for the conversion of flexible, web-based materials, such as paper, film, foil and nonwovens.  It offers a central marketplace for the international converting industry where suppliers of machinery, systems, materials and accessories meet with international industry experts who are looking for bespoke product  processing solutions and have specific investment plans.  As such its right up our street!

Carl Foster, International sales Director, and David Piper, EU Sales Manager, were on the DD stand and enjoyed meeting up with the Industry in Munich.  As David said “It was a great show to talk technical and also gets a real concentration of the industry into Munich which highlights what an important week it is.  We have established DD(EU) in Brussels to avoid all the issues around BREXIT and so we are well placed to continue supplying the market and enjoyed meeting friends, customers and competitors at the show.  We lifted the odd stein or two and might have also indulged in some Bavarian kaffee und kuchen as well.”

Proper maintenance and storage of Durham-Duplex blades is essential to ensure safety and maximise blade lifespan. Here are a few key tips:

Clean after use: Remove any debris, product residue, or moisture after each use. For industrial settings, follow the appropriate cleaning protocol depending on the material being cut (especially in food or medical industries).

Dry thoroughly: Ensure the blades are completely dry before storage to prevent corrosion or rusting—especially important for carbon steel blades.

Store safely: Use the original packaging or a designated dry, secure container. For safety knives, always retract the blade after use.

Regular inspection: Periodically check for signs of wear, dullness, or damage. Replace blades at the first signs of reduced performance to maintain precision and avoid machine stress or product damage.

Durham-Duplex also offers blade handling tools and dispensers to improve safe usage in industrial environments.
