Durham Duplex raise £230 for Wear It Pink

The Ladies in the Durham Duplex accounts department …

WEAR IT PINK 2015

The Ladies in the Durham Duplex accounts department decided to take up the “Wear it Pink” challenge on Friday 23rd October and did a marvellous job raising £230 for the Breast cancer Now charity appeal.  They generated such a  large amount by fining people who failed to dress with a pink theme, taking donations from those that dressed in pink, selling pink themed cakes and also involving local businesses like the Sheffield Assay Office and Tool and Steel Products Ltd in the fun.

The pictures show some of the Durham-Duplex staff all in theme, the coordinators with the cakes and Charles Turner,  unequivocally dressed in pink, handing over the donations from the Guardians of the Sheffield Assay Office to Louise Paulton and Hollie Grattan who had masterminded the event.

Louise thanked everyone for their donation saying ” This is a marvellous effort by Durham Duplex, the Sheffield Assay Office and Tool and Steel Products. The money raised will be used by Breast Cancer Now to further the aim of ensuring that by 2050 no one’s mother, sister, daughter, partner or friend will die from breast cancer.”

Well done Louise and Hollie!

Proper maintenance and storage of Durham-Duplex blades is essential to ensure safety and maximise blade lifespan. Here are a few key tips:

Clean after use: Remove any debris, product residue, or moisture after each use. For industrial settings, follow the appropriate cleaning protocol depending on the material being cut (especially in food or medical industries).

Dry thoroughly: Ensure the blades are completely dry before storage to prevent corrosion or rusting—especially important for carbon steel blades.

Store safely: Use the original packaging or a designated dry, secure container. For safety knives, always retract the blade after use.

Regular inspection: Periodically check for signs of wear, dullness, or damage. Replace blades at the first signs of reduced performance to maintain precision and avoid machine stress or product damage.

Durham-Duplex also offers blade handling tools and dispensers to improve safe usage in industrial environments.
